IS THE EARTH SHAKING MORE???

Found this excellent article with excerpts from news links and there's not more that really needs adding. So, kudos to the author, who compiled such great info, Bob Thiel!

" ....Jesus taught:

Mark 13:8 … And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be…troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.

"We may be to this point as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions certainly would seem to qualify as “troubles”.

"Is Earth shaking more?

MSNBC LiveScience – April 14, 2010

As the numbers of buried or dead continue to climb from today’s 6.9-magnitude earthquake in China, an event so close on the heels of the devastating Chile and Haiti earthquakes, you might wonder if Earth is shaking more lately. Perhaps, scientists say…

“Relative to the 20-year period from the mid-1970’s to the mid 1990’s, the Earth has been more active over the past 15 or so years,” said Stephen S. Gao, a geophysicist at Missouri University of Science & Technology. “We still do not know the reason for this yet. Could simply be the natural temporal variation of the stress field in the Earth’s lithosphere.” (The lithosphere is the outer solid part of the Earth.)

News of the Yushu earthquake in China, which followed large temblors in the United States and Mexico, Haiti, Chile and the Ryukyu Islands of Japan — all in this young year alone — make it seem Earth is becoming ever more active…the series of earthquakes could just be part of the natural cycle for what is arguably a dynamic planet."

"California sees increase in earthquakes

LA Times – April 13, 2010

Seismologists in California were busy this week fighting rumors apparently floating on Twitter that a major earthquake was likely in the next few days.

Officials at Caltech say that rumor is not true — and that no such prediction can be made. But researchers say there has been an uptick in earthquakes this year.

The number of earthquakes greater than magnitude 4.0 in Southern California and Baja California has increased significantly in 2010. There have been 70 such quakes so far this year, the most of any year in the last decade. And it’s only April. There were 30 in 2009 and 29 in 2008.

Seismologists said they are studying the uptick but cannot fully explain it."

"Instead of being part of the “natural cycle”, earthquakes in various places should be considered that we may be in or near that time that Jesus called “the beginning of sorrows” (see also Matthew 24:7-8).

Those of us in Southern California may soon be affected even more by earthquakes and other disasters, whether we believe in Bible prophecy or that this is due to the "natural cycle".
